EXPECTED POSITIVE IMPACT ON THE COMMUNITIES AND DISTRICTS WHERE THE PROJECTS WILL BE IMPLEMENTED
Currently, the extensive model of agriculture, livestock, agri-food industries and urban populations is linked to the generation of a large amount of waste. The installation of the plant will solve the problem of excess organic waste and will produce the following social benefits, improving sustainability and promoting the development of renewable energies:
Social benefits:
It will allow the development of rural areas, improvement of agricultural and livestock practices, solving problems of slurry and organic waste management, landfills and other industrial waste. It will generate wealth and employment by fixing rural population both in the construction and operation phases where the logistic and operational management of organic inputs and digestates / organic amendments.
It unifies the energy systems providing flexibility to the gas system and promoting distributed generation.
Sustainability benefits:
It contributes to sustainable energy generation and gas supply security. Allows the use of the natural gas infrastructure already developed, allows the energy generated to be stored in the form of renewable gas, and is also a scalable technology, allowing the growth of the agri-food and livestock industry.
Optimization of water management, reducing the organic load of wastewater treatment plants and improving the quality of aquifers by avoiding current contamination from sludge and spills.
Promotion of renewable energies:
Enables the decarbonization of domestic, industrial and transportation uses of natural gas, making it 100% renewable. Solution for the asynchrony between production and demand: injected into the current natural gas grid. It allows for the storage of surplus renewable energy, with the gas network being understood as the largest "battery of available energy in Spain". The aim is to promote an energy transition as a lever for attracting activity and population through the generation of sustainable and affordable energy (biomethane).
The sustainability of the area is ensured:
The management of the environmental aspects of the existing activity in the area ensures its sustainability, in such a way that soil and groundwater contamination will be avoided through the energetic and agro-environmental valorization of the waste and manure generated in the livestock farms.
